ABOUT US
ABOUT US
South Middlesex Baptist Church is a grace-filled, Christ-centered church in Framingham, MA. We are located in the Coburnville community of South Framingham. SMBC is a place where Jesus is center stage. We are Baptist by doctrine, not by denomination. We are an independent, unaffiliated church, whose purpose is to reach South Framingham by making, equipping and sending disciples of Jesus. We love God and each other, we grow together in God’s Word, and we seek to serve others with authentic grace and compassion. Come and help us reach South Framingham for Jesus!
WHO WE ARE
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to know Christ and to make Him known. We help lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to reach Framingham, Boston MetroWest and the world by making disciples one person at a time. We seek God to spread His gospel message through His disciples to and from Framingham all around the world.
OUR VALUES
We value Christ-centered expository preaching, Christ-centered worship, Christ-centered relationships, and Christ-centered prayer.
OUR HISTORY
SMBC was founded in 1978. Our first service was held on September 10, 1978, and began meeting in the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in Framingham on the Natick line on Route 9. Our position there allowed us to reach out into both Framingham and Natick communities. From there, our meeting places changed a few times, until we eventually bought our own building and property. In 1985, SMBC moved to Bridges Street Extension, which has been our home since.
For over 40 years, SMBC has faithfully proclaimed the gospel of Jesus. To God’s glory, many have come to know Jesus as a result. And still today, this continues to be the heartbeat of our mission.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our faith is anchored in the Bible, God’s Holy Word. We believe the Bible is the verbally inspired and infallible, authoritative Word of God; that it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We further believe that God has wonderfully preserved His Word in its smallest detail so that we might have His standard by which to live for His glory. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 24:35)
We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4, 4:35; Matt. 3:16-17; Psalms 9:7; John. 10:30, 14:26; 1 Johnn. 5:7).
We believe in the Deity of Christ; His virgin birth; His shed blood for atonement of sin; His bodily resurrection; His ascension into Heaven, there to be our Intercessor; His Lordship over all creation (John. 1: 1-3, 7; Hebrews 9:11-12; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25; Matthew 28:18; Philippians 2:9-11).
We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, makes believers children of God through the new birth, assuring them of Heaven, and by His indwelling enables Christians to live a Godly life (John 16:8-11; Titus 3:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 12:13; Romans 8: 1-4, 14, 16; Galatians 5:16; Ephesians 5:9,18).
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and choice, sinful and lost, and have within themselves no possible means of salvation without Christ (Romans 3:10, 23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3, 8-9, 12; Titus 3:5).
We believe in Salvation by grace through faith; that Salvation is the free gift of God, not by any virtue or works of man, but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; and that all true believers possess the gift of eternal life, a perfect righteousness, son-ship in the family of God, and the divine guarantee that they shall never perish (John 1:12, 3:16, 18, 10:28; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5).
We believe in the existence of Satan the deceiver and god of this present world; that he was defeated and judged at the cross, and therefore his final doom is certain (John 8:44; Job 1:6-12, 2:1-8; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:2; 1 John 3:8, 4:4, 5:18; Revelation 20:10).
We believe in the return of Jesus Christ; the time being unrevealed but always imminent; that when He comes He will first by resurrection of the dead and the translation (rapture) of the living remove from the earth His waiting Church; then pour out the righteous judgments of God upon the unbelieving world, afterwards descend with His Church and establish His glorious and literal kingdom over all nations for a thousand years (John 14:1-3; Acts 1: 11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57; Revelation 6-9, 19:11-20:6).
We believe that the spirits of the saved, at death, go immediately to be with Christ in Heaven; that at His coming their works will be judged and rewards determined; that the spirits of the unsaved at death descend immediately into Hell until the final day of judgment, at which time their bodies shall be raised from the grave, judged, and cast into the lake of fire, the place of final and everlasting punishment (2 Corinthians 5:6-1 0; Luke 16:19-3 1; Revelation 20:11-15).
We believe in the priesthood of all believers, that Christ is our High Priest and through Him every born-again person has direct access into God’s presence without the need of a human priest; that the believer has the right and responsibility to personally study to learn the Scriptures, guided by the Holy Spirit (1 Peter 2:2, 9; 1 Timothe 2:5; Hebrews 4:14-16, 6:20, 7:17-28; John 14:26, 16:13; 2 Peter 1:19-21; 2 Timothy 2:15).
We believe that a New Testament Church is an organized body of born-again baptized believers practicing the scriptural ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34)
We believe the officers of the church are pastors and deacons. In Scripture, the pastor is also referred to as an elder, we believe the two terms describe the same office. We believe the ordinances of the church are Christian baptism and the Lord’s Table (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Philippians 1:4).
We believe in the Separation of Church and State; that God has ordained both, and has delegated authority to each; the authority of one must not interfere with the other; however, this does not mean that the State is to be non-religious nor does it mean that the church and its members may not be involved in the political processes of this nation (Matthew 16:18, 18:15-20; Romans 13:1-7; Acts 2:1-11, 41-47; Ephesians 2:1-6).
MINISTRIES
Children
Have children? No problem, we've got you covered. We have a ministry for you child no matter what the age. We love the little ones, and understand the importance of a safe environment for children to learn about Jesus. From beginners to highschoolers, we care for and teach them on their level in age appropriate classes. We love to play games and enjoy times of activity along with learning about Jesus.
Women
Women's Ministry is a group of ladies who meet together quarterly for encouragement through Bible study and fellowship. This may include taking a trip together, or just getting together at our church location for a time of games and crafting. We would love it if you would come and visit with us. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
Men
Our men get together quarterly for times of fellowship, Bible study, worship and prayer. We believe it is biblical and vital for holy men to lead our church and their homes. And we believe we are stronger together. Our quarterly fellowships encourage each other's growth in the Word and help each grow stronger in his relationship with God, to help strengthen their relationships at home, work, and church.
Discipleship
Discipleship is foundational for every believer. We strive to lead every new believer, or any who has never been through a similar course, through ours. Discipleship is simply a Bible study through core foundational truths about God and the Bible. We meet one-on-one or couples-with-couples. Get started with our core discipleship course today!
Outreach
Jesus told us to go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation, and we take that seriosuly here at SMBC. Whether through personal evangelism, or church-wide events or programs, we are always looking for ways to go and share. Come join us in helping us reach Framingham and the MetroWest!
Missions
One way we go into all the world is by partnering with domestic and foreign missionaries. Through regular financial and prayer support, we are privileged to help them in their ministries. Each year we take time to have a central focus on missions - the Lord's call to it, and how we can make a greater effort and impact. Our goal is to follow the pattern of Acts 1:8, to spread the gospel to and from Framingham throughout the world.
