The second Sunday of Advent is upon us! Peace is one of my favorite messages of Advent and of Christ. We live in such a busy, fast-paced, and information-overload time. We see and know everything that is going on across the street and around the world; economically, socially, politically and religiously. TV, internet, phone calls and apps on phones. It's all around us, amongst us and a part of us.
As a society, we are busier than ever. There are so many self-help books and blogs on better managing your time, that seem to just teach how to fit even more into your schedule. People are here, there and everywhere. Days are jam-packed. People are exhausted, physically, mentally and emotionally.
All of this works together and works against us. Our minds are racing and then being filled with news, information and content. It works against us. It works against peace in our minds and lives. It takes away from worship. It takes away from our minds being stayed on God.
Isaiah 26:3 says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee..."
We can't have peace if our minds are not stayed on Him, because He is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). We find peace in our Savior. And God desires peace for us in our lives, which is why He sent Jesus to us, the Prince of Peace. So, find peace in Christ.
Join us Sunday as we worship the Prince of Peace and learn more about how to have Christ-centered, peace-filled living. Begin doing so even now! Eliminate distractions, busyness and that which will keep your mind racing on everything but Jesus. Today, tomorrow, Sunday and everyday. Find peace, and be still.
