Today, we consider the last mark of Advent - love. Really, love is the base theme of the entire Bible. God's love for us is the heart of His purpose of redemption. It is good to take time to consider how much His great love cost Him, which shows us the depth of His love for us.

In our worship serve, we sang “There Is A Fountain (Full Of Love)”, a song that combines the hymn “There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood” with a bridge that proclaims “Hallelujah fountain full of love for us, poured out on us”.

Romans 5:5 says, “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” That phrase shred abroad means “poured out”.

A few verse later, Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” God poured out His love for us in sending His Son Jesus to live, die, and rise from the dead, to bear and pay the price for our sins, give us redemption and restoration to God. God loved us so much that He could not leave us in our sin and separated from Him, but made the way for us to have salvation and relationship with Him again.

John 15:13 tells us, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” There is no greater expression or gift of love than what God the Father and Jesus, God the Son did for us.

This truly is a fountain full of love for us. What a thought!
