The I'm New section can be used to answer the top 5-7 questions a new person would have before attending the church for the first time. One idea would be to set up the page in a FAQ format which answers each question in a clear and concise way. Some questions you may want to answer could include:
We are currently in the process of remodelling our facilities, specifically our auditorium. So, if it seems a bit "undone", that is why! We invite you to still come and be a part of what God is doing at SMBC!
SMBC is a family of grace. We value four main aspects of worship each Sunday:
1. Worship through Singing
2. Worship through God’s Word
3. Worship through Fellowship (encouraging time together)
4. Worship Together
We typically sing three to four songs. We do this to praise God and exalt Jesus. We believe in singing songs that lift God up in truth, meaning, that what we sing is true according what the Bible teaches us. We sing old and new hymns, songs and hymns that were written by individuals, or even by churches, and songs and hymns that were written long ago or even recently. Our emphasis is to sing out in praise the truth of who God is.
We worship through God’s Word by teaching and preaching through books of the Bible one at a time so we can receive all that God has for us. At the end of our service, we have a quiet time of response to God. This allows each of us individually to spend a few moments with God responding to Him about what we just heard and received from Him through His Word.
We encourage fellowship. Whether it’s before the service starts, or after it ends, we have coffee available in the lobby and love to see people spending time encouraging one another through fellowship (talking with one another).
We believe it’s important to do all of this, worshipping, together. That is exactly what the church is – the gathering of believers. For this reason, we start out our Sunday morning with family worship altogether. We do not have separate classes or service for children during this time. We believe it is a very good thing for children to worship with their parents, and for families to worship together (a nursery is available on the lower level for moms to use as needed). Children are as much a part of our church family as they are your family. Do not be afraid of your children making too much noise in the service. We welcome them to be a part and to worship Jesus with us.
After the morning worship service, we have classes for children and adults. It’s like the traditional Sunday School, we just do it after the service instead of before, and call it Growth Classes. Our goal is that you’ll learn the Bible more resulting in personal and spiritual growth in your life.
